For the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris was a trailblazer as the first woman and woman of color to be president.  Her campaign focuses on progressive policies, and it wants to bring attention to problems with the U.S. Government. Opposingly, Donald Trump represents the Republican Party. Trump's Campaign emphasizes conservative values, national security, and restoring "America's greatness." This blog will talk about the campaigns of both candidates, their platforms, and the messages they want to spread to their voters.

Kamla Harris

Kamala Harris' campaign focused on justice and equality for all. A key focus on her platform is protecting abortion rights, climate action, and bettering the criminal justice system. Harris sees abortion as fundamental to gender equality and personal freedom. She also thinks the need for clean energy is important to go against global warming. She has addressed racial and economic equality that have been a persistent problem throughout the U.S. Lastly, she firmly believes that healthcare and education remain critical parts of her platform. A campaign video named "A Future Worth Fighting For" talks about Harrris' mission, showing the importance of reproductive rights being a major foundation of her broader vision for a "fairer" society. Harris presented herself as a leader committed to transforming America to be a place where justice and equality prevail.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump's Campaign focuses more on law and order. He has made strengthening border security a central idea of his platform, arguing that strict immigration policies are necessary to protect national security and fulfill the promise to Americans in the preamble of the Constitution ("secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity"). Trump also believes in tax cuts as a means to prompt economic growth and restore prosperity for people. A campaign video named "Save America" talks about Trump's perspective on corruption in government institutions. It portrays illegal immigration as a threat to national prosperity. His message resonates with his voters because he prioritizes security as well as a strong economy. With these specific focuses, Trump promises to bring back what he views as the country's "former strength and unity."
